Nice video. My lock stops fell out so my retractable top does not stay put. I see e-trailer has the replacement for ~$16 before tax and shipping. This is only for one side. I'd like to do a DIY repair since we are just talking basic hardware from Home Depot. Thoughts and suggestions are appreciated. To be clear, I don't know the thread size, length, etc for the hardware.

Doesn't really "lock"that well. I put the long arms as far as possible so it would help a bit cause it still retains so much play that there's a very real chance that someone stubborn will open it

This thing is hot garbage, installed on my 07 ranger and won't lock or unlock. The locking tab gets stuck either against the tailgate itself or the slot in the handle it is suppose to go in. I love aftermarket companies that hire 1st year mechanical engineering interns to build/design parts for them.

The FOUR MAJOR FACTORS FOR FADING AND DRY ROT of TIRES, PLASTIC, & VINYL: Ultraviolet (UV) Light Ozone Protectants Chemicals All of these attack the long hydrocarbon chains of the rubber, trim, and vinyl skin by breaking these bonds, which shortens the molecules and causes a loss of elasticity and other properties. The results show as plastic fading, vinyl cracking, tire dry rot, or tire cracking. They gradually damage both the function and beauty of these materials. This damage can result in economic losses as a result of the increased costs of maintenance, upkeep, and replacement. Tire manufacturers add two primary sacrificial protectants to the rubber to protect against ozone: synthetic/natural waxes, and carbon black. Ozone attacks the wax and depletes it. As the tire rolls, additional wax is forced to the surface of the tire. This oxidized wax will appear brown on the tire surface, a process referred to as “blooming.” This blooming refreshes the surface wax level. A tire that has not been flexed will have the wax depleted by ozone and protectants, which will promote degradation, tire cracking, and dry rot. So driving actually helps prevent tire dry rot! Another sacrificial protectant added by manufacturers to protect against UV is carbon black. This is why tires and trim are almost always black. The carbon black will turn gray as it absorbs UV and protects the rubber and plastics. Vinyl surfaces have a protective skin that is depleted by off-gassing. Protectants can actually dissolve the oils in the skin and hasten the premature formation of cracks and fading in the vinyl. Although plastic surfaces have no “skin,” similar effects occur in them, resulting in plastic fading. So, HOW TO PREVENT FADING PLASTIC, VINYL CRACKING, and TIRE ROT? NUMBER ONE - Keep out of the sun as much as possible. UV exposure is the number-one reason for fading and cracking. NUMBER TWO - Block ozone. Ozone is a highly reactive gas composed of three oxygen atoms that is both a natural and man-made product (such as in hot tub oxidizer). Ozone can cause substantial damage to a variety of materials such as vinyl, plastics, fabrics, paint and rubber. NUMBER THREE - Stop the use of so-called “protectants” or “tire dressing.” Almost ALL of these types of products, regardless of manufacturer claims of being petrochemical-free, silicone-free, oil-based, or water-based, are a combination of silicone, oil, and emulsifiers. Emulsifiers, wetting agents, solvents, surfactants, dispersants, and detergents are all components of protectants. These products simply enhance the appearance by providing temporary hydration and shine of the surface. Keep in mind that a solvent will break down any surface over time Protectants emulsify the protective waxes in rubber and deplete them. Most protectants would be more appropriately labeled as “cleaners with shiny stuff mixed in” and some tire manufacturers may not honor their tire warranties for damages if the use of such protectant products detected. The KEY to UNDERSTANDING ALL PROTECTANTS is: If it feels SLIPPERY, it’s slowly drying your tires, fading the trim, and cracking the vinyl. NUMBER FOUR - Consider your choice and use of cleaners. Tire cleaners and automated washes use high pH cleaners which do the job of cleaning, yet will eventually degrade the surface substrates. You will find that the RENEW-PRO treated surfaces will require much less cleaning and even eliminate the need for tire cleaners. All of this is why RENEW-PRO BLAK is a favorite tire dry rot prevention product in the RV and golf cart industries. Get a permanent fix for plastic fading and vinyl cracking with RENEW-PRO BLAK, SATN, and GLOZ, which supply co-polymer essential elements that restore the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) composition of the surface. Renew-Pro also creates a dry-seal ozone and UV block with infused quartz, zinc, and titanium nano-ceramic oxides. This technology also serves to retard the blooming and off-gassing processes and greatly enhances the retention of protective elements within the surface. Renew-Pro BLAK also contains a high level of UV-blocking carbon black which is ideal for the restoration of faded black surfaces. Renew-Pro is silicone-free, oil-free, and forms a dry seal with no active petrochemical solvents. Conclusion: Fading and tire dry rot can be slowed by the application of BLAK, SATN, GLOZ, DASH, or SPA but once tires, plastic, or vinyl are cracked, dry rot cannot be stopped, and replacement (tire) is the safest option. *Didn't know what to expect when ordering a tonneau cover to put on myself. **do7.pl/PCover** I do most work on my vehicles myself, so I knew I could do it, but you never know if its as easy as they say. This, I am happy to say, was. Pretty much anybody could do it. I bought the Gator product that specifically fits my 2016 Ram 1500 truck with the shorter bed (crew cab). I am very pleased. The C-clamps that come to put the side rails on were a little frustrating to work with, but I got the job done. I hear a colleague say they ordered a different tonneau cover brand and didn't have these clamps and had to buy them. They used the hand tightening C style lamps, I think those would work with this product too, but I like the clamps being bolted on with the included ones.Instructions were relatively good, there is some room for improvement, I suggest reading ahead, as some of the steps don't seem to make a lot of sense until you read the next page and look at the product a little bit. But with some patience and not moving too fast, it becomes clear and easy to handle. All the seals seem like great quality, its easy to use by one-person, easy to shut and clamp. Everything about this product has impressed me so far.I will update this review after its been on the truck for some time to make sure it stands the test of some weather and driving.*
